LEEMING Senior High School outmanoeuvred the rest of WA to win the State Interschool Chess Championship earlier this month.
In a nail-biting finish, the Leeming Senior High School team held its nerve to win with 28.5 points, just two ahead of Wesley College.
Perth Modern finished third with 23.5 points.
Leeming’s Jack Byram was named top individual player with Paddy Koh runner-up.
Amber Woodfield-Hoare was runner-up top female player.
The team has now turned its sights to the National Interschool Chess Championships in Melbourne in November.
