AFTER being crowned the Tennis Hot Shot of the Month last August, Applecross Tennis Club junior Shayla Quinn enjoyed star treatment at the Australian Open last week.

Shayla joined 11 other rising stars from across the country in a visit to the home of Australian tennis.

As well as having a hit on Rod Laver Arena she also enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility to build a better understanding of what goes into becoming a world-class athlete.

The visit also included plenty of opportunities to see some of the sport’s biggest names in action.

“I had so much fun playing on Rod Laver Arena and watching all my favourite tennis stars play,” she said.

“I can’t wait to go back to the Australian Open and hopefully play there again one day.”

The annual Tennis Hot Shot of the Year competition recognises budding tennis stars from around Australia for their participation, enthusiasm and enjoyment of the game.
