“It’s an individual sport but Mai has been competing in women’s division two pennants and the boys have been competing in men’s pennants too,” he said.

“The players have been practicing as much as they can.”

Espie said the championships were an important tournament, which attracted talented players from across the country.

“Jordan has previously played in the interstate series and has plated well in New South Wales but for Hong Bin and Aaron, it’s their first competing interstate,” he said.

“I think they will all go in quietly confident because they have good heads on their shoulders and I certainly think they will hold their own.

“From the club’s perspective, we are really proud of them and we look forward to seeing them being successful.”
