FIVE Melville Glades Golf Club junior members are heading east to take on some of the nation’s best talents.

Jordan Jung, Hong Bin Wong, Ethan Lim and Aaron Hall are in the boys under 17 team while Mai Julius is in the girls under 17 team that will compete in the School Sports National Championships in Coffs Harbour on August 26 to 31.

Club general manager Matt Espie said the preparations for the championships had gone well.

“It’s an individual sport but Mai has been competing in women’s division two pennants and the boys have been competing in men’s pennants too,” he said.

“The players have been practicing as much as they can.”

Espie said the championships were an important tournament, which attracted talented players from across the country.

“Jordan has previously played in the interstate series and has plated well in New South Wales but for Hong Bin and Aaron, it’s their first competing interstate,” he said.

“I think they will all go in quietly confident because they have good heads on their shoulders and I certainly think they will hold their own.

“From the club’s perspective, we are really proud of them and we look forward to seeing them being successful.”
