MELVILLE Senior High School took home the Meritorious Shield at last week’s A Division Interschool Athletics, also coming second overall.

The winner of the carnival on 1530 points was Churchlands, a school with nearly double the number of students. Melville received 1422 points and Rossmoyne came third with 1408 points.

The day became exciting when Melville, which was coming fourth before the relays, placed in the top four with nine of its relay teams, including first place for the Year 7 boys, Year 8 boys and Year 11/12 girls teams.

The after-school baton change practice seemed to give the green and gold teams the edge.
