A 59-run 10th-wicket partnership put a dampener on what shaped as a dominant day in the field for Melville against Joondalup at Tompkins Park on Saturday.
The Storm won the toss and sent the visitors in to bat in difficult conditions after periods of rain throughout the morning.
Melville struck at regular intervals, with Mark Tuner (4-66) claiming the scalps of both Joondalup openers before Myles Keyt (3-57) and Western Warrior Ryan Duffield (3-36) also got in on the action.
Joondalup was teetering at 6-119 but the Storm failed to land a knockout blow, instead watching the tail wag to the tune of another 123 runs.
