Melville’s water polo teams enjoying the break but hungry for success

The Sharks narrowly lost 10-8 to UWA City Beach Bears earlier this month.

The majority of that Melville team will now form the Fremantle Mariners squad in the National Water Polo League starting in January, with Olympian Joel Swift hoping to have overcome a shoulder injury to be a key participant.

“I personally am happy with the change to the schedule this year, as games were conflicting with national league games and obviously it is very hard to play two games on the same day,” Swift said.

“I’m really excited for it. I have been away from Australia for the past three seasons playing professionally in Hungary but now I am looking forward to joining old teammates and friends playing for Fremantle and can hopefully get back to the finals.”

The Melville Marlins remain unbeaten atop the women’s Premier League competition, having won all five of their matches.
