KARDINYA Primary School students got the chance to meet a tennis legend when seven-time Grand Slam Doubles champion John Fitzgerald stopped by for a visit.
The former world number one doubles player visited the school on Wednesday to give out some pointers and present free racquets to pre-primary kids.
The visit was a part of ANZ Tennis Hot Shot Racquet Roadshow, which encourages kids to get physically active.
Fitzgerald said it brought a smile to his face to see kids enjoying themselves on a tennis court.
“It’s all about getting racquets into young kids’ hands and introducing them to the sport,” he said.
“All the little ones are going to get a free racquet and they are usually excited to get one.
“I don’t usually go over anything technical because it’s more about getting them excited and aware of what tennis is and how it can be a healthy thing to do over a lifespan.”
