PALMYRA dominated Associates 45-18 under lights at Tompkins Park on Friday night to all but seal its spot in the top four and a place in the 2016 finals series.

The writing was on the walls for Soaks from the first minute, with Palmyra displaying early intent to cross for the opening try of the game in under a minute.

That set the tone for the night, the Palmyra forwards enjoying the ascendancy throughout the contest and controlling the set pieces.

The platform laid by the forwards supplied the backs with plenty of clean ball and they responded by carrying strongly through the centres and piling up a winning score.

The home side piled on seven tries through Tutere Waenga (two), Tuhoe Mahaki, Shane Manu, Levi Faale, Pau Halafihi and Jared Trevathan.

The result means third-placed Palmyra needs just two points from its remaining two matches to guarantee a spot in finals, although it could secure a home semi by winning out if second-placed Nedlands falters.

Earlier in the evening, in a prelude to the likely reserve grade grand final, Palmyra maintained its unbeaten record with a hard fought 25-19 win over Associates.

The game was a bruising encounter with both sides performing well at the set pieces and breakdowns but Pally just sneaking home at the end.
