Rugby union: Palmyra scores 32-13 win over University

PALMYRA continued on its winning way with a 32-13 victory over a committed University team on Saturday.

University started the match well and took a deserved 3-0 lead courtesy of an early penalty.

A short time later, Palmyra responded with a penalty of its own through the boot of fly half Dave Neilson.

Both teams then traded tries and headed into half time with the score locked at 10-10.

The early part of the second half was an arm wrestle between both sides, before Palmyra fullback Manihera Eden struck twice with two fantastic individual tries.

University could only muster a late second half penalty to close the gap slightly before Palmyra prop Mees Erasmus put the game out of reach with a try in the corner.

In other grades, Palmyra reserves thrashed University 104-5, colts came from behind to defeat University Colts 29-24, thirds won 31-22 and the Palmyra Women’s team opened its account for the season with an 85-0 win over Curtin.
