THE future stars of Melville City Football Club were on display as the club marked its final set of Rooball fixtures for players aged between five and nine with a special celebration at the Murdoch University playing fields.

The young tyros enjoyed ice cream cones, food vans, a sausage sizzle and a blow-up soccer pitch while the Perth Glory mascot Glory Gorilla also made an appearance.

Melville City had plenty to celebrate with more than 70 junior teams registering for the past season and 16 making it to finals.

Club president David Kindness said he was impressed with the turnout and atmosphere.

“Our club is moving to a new era and I am very pleased to see our football community embracing these changes,” he said.

Cameras rolled and clicked on the day, with Melville City currently undertaking a video project to capture the club’s history in the form of a living document that will be released next year.
