Melvilles Cameron Taylor (Wesley College) and Hayden Vogels (Kent Street Senior High School) have been named in the final 13-member squad.

It was selected by SchoolSport WA cricket staff in conjunction with the WACA Talent Department and comes on the back of Januarys Under-15 WACA Talent Carnival at Guildford Grammar.

WA has made five finals and won the competition three times over the past six seasons and will be looking to build on its strong history, with the likes of Mitch Marsh, Sam Whiteman and Cameron Bancroft coming through the team.

WA head coach Scott Ogilvie was optimistic of maintaining those high standards.

Although selection was very difficult this time around, Im excited about the final squad and cant wait to start the final phase of preparation, Ogilvie said.

All 13 players have had a good season under their belts and theres a lot of talent amongst the group.

I think well be very competitive again this year and maintain the high standard that WA has set at these National Championships in the past.

The squad will have a two-week break before training begins twice a week at the WACA Ground. The focus will be on strength and conditioning and skills as well as game scenarios.

This is one of the best all round squads I have seen in years, WACA Talent Development co-ordinator Rob Wass said. It has a very good balance of quality fast bowlers, a very strong batting line-up and a couple of good spinners.

I look forward to seeing how the squad continues to gel together. They have had a good preparation so far and will continue that with the support of the WACA and their coaching staff.
