Ferndale resident Tristan Lin (11) won 9 individual medals at the meet.

New president Irene Cooke said the secret to the success was embracing the championships across the board.

“From our juniors to our elite swimmers, we tried to do our best,” she said.

After the Applecross and Melville Swimming Clubs joined to create South Shore Swimming Club in 2010, the club will blow out the candles for 10 successful years in 2020.

“We want to invest back into our swimmers and create opportunities for our elite swimmers as well as our juniors,” Cooke said.

“Next year will be a big year for swimming as Perth hosts the Age Swimming Championships in April and there’s also the Olympics later in the year.

“We’ll be hosting a gala dinner for the adults in November and a summer wind-up for the juniors in April.”
