WAFL: Former Essendon midfielder Nick Kommer signs two-year deal with East Fremantle

EAST Fremantle’s busy off-season has continued with the signing of former Essendon midfielder Nick Kommer on a two-year deal.

The 27-year-old played 22 games for the Bombers after being picked up from East Perth in the 2012 draft.

Injuries hampered a promising start to his career and he was delisted at the end of the 2016 season.

He spent 2017 in the Ballarat Football League.

“It’s great to be back in the west and playing in the WAFL,” Kommer said.

“I’m looking forward to meeting and playing alongside a new bunch of lads with an up and coming young list.”

Kommer is East Fremantle’s third off-season recruit with AFL experience.

Dockers ruckman Jon Griffin was announced as a new member of the side last week, while Bull Creek-Leeming product Jarrad Jansen joined a month earlier following stints with Geelong and Brisbane.

Head coach Rob Wiley said Kommer’s approach would be welcome in a side that won just three matches during the 2017 campaign.

“His pace, aggression and competitiveness will go a long way as we move forward,” he said.
