WA’s young golf talent on show in April

Bryce LuffMelville Gazette

HIGH hopes have been placed on WA’s young golf talent ahead of the Australian Junior Interstate Series in Perth this month.

Maddison Hinson-Tolchard will lead WA’s girls side at Royal Perth Golf Club over three days from April 15.

The boys are aiming for back-to-back titles, with their squad to be skippered by Connor Fewkes at Hartfield Golf Club from April 16 to 19.

GolfWA high performance co-ordinator Fritz Arnold said the crop of junior talent was promising.

“The boys are reigning champions from the series in NSW last year and I am sure they have the capability and confidence to go back-to-back after breaking the 17-year drought,” he said.

“Both teams have only changed minimally since last year and are playing at home here in WA, so they have a great opportunity to build upon last year’s results.

“The girls will look to improve on last year and given the current form of the team and the home ground advantage of Royal Perth, they’re sure to do WA proud.”

All 15 members from both teams will also compete in the Australian Junior Amateur Championships from April 11 to 13.
