Then on Sunday morning, the women again prevailed with an 8-7 score line, improving to a 10-3 record and third on the NWPL table.

In the corresponding men’s clashes, the Mariners beat Balmain 8-6 on Friday night before the Tigers got a measure of revenge on Sunday winning 7-6.

The Mariners now sit in eighth position on the men’s standings with a 6-7 record.

Fremantle remains at Bicton Pool this weekend to play the Hunter Hurricanes on Thursday and Saturday nights.

Meanwhile, the Melville Marlins remain undefeated in the women’s State Premier League season after a commanding 15-1 victory over Dolphins at Beatty Park.

The win improves Melville to a perfect 10-0 record after 13 rounds and came on the back of six goals from Kate Abbey-Wardale, three from Erin Redbond, three from Madeleine Quinn and two from Lauren Martin.

The Marlins will face a sterner test this Saturday against the UWA City Beach Bears at HBF Stadium.
