THE Melville Marlins remain undefeated in the Water Polo WA Premier League while the Fremantle teams prepare for their second road trip of the National Water Polo League season.

The Melville women’s team rolled to its eighth straight win of the season with an emphatic 20-3 victory over Triton at Beatty Park on Saturday.

The Marlins led 12-1 by half time before adding another eight to two in the second half with Erin Redbond and Zoe Arancini scoring four goals apiece.

Lauren Martin and Chloe Nella also scored three each.

Improving to an 8-0 record gives Melville a comfortable two game cushion over UWA City Beach Bears.

Rio Olympian Arancini remains the league’s leading scorer with her four goals taking her season tally to 25.

She was also awarded the three votes from the game with Redbond given two and Nella one.

Melville enjoys a bye this weekend, which coincides with the Fremantle Marlins and Mariners embarking on their second road trip of the season.

The sides travel to Melbourne for two games against the newly formed Barbarians who have entered the competition in place of the defunct Victorian Seals.

The pair of games take place on Thursday and Friday evenings before Fremantle travels to Adelaide on the weekend for matches with the Jets on Saturday and Sunday.

The Marlins women’s team are coming off an emphatic 16-4 victory over the UWA Torpedoes while the Mariners men are looking to rebound from a narrow loss at Bicton Pool against the reigning premier UWA team.
