Two of the best in west

But if you’ve been drinking at either the Boab Tavern or the High Wycombe Hotel, then you are in some of the best venues in the west right now.

Both venues are finalists in major categories of the Australian Hotels Association WA hotel and hospitality awards.

The Boab Tavern, on Dundas Road, has been nominated in 10 categories, including Pub of the Year, Best Hotel TAB Venue and Best Sporting Entertainment Venue.

Tavern manager Sue Doick said the Boab offered great, old-fashioned food and service that was ‘back to basics and the sort of old fashioned customer service that Perth has lost’.

The High Wycombe Tavern, on Kalamunda Road, has also been nominated in the Best Sporting Entertainment Venue category.

A makeover and new staff have resulted in a new look for the pub, which is always packed. The hotel was shortlisted in four categories this year.
