ACCIDENTS happen with fatal results in Garrick Theatre’s new production Beyond a Joke by British playwright Derek Benfield.

A TV repairman falls off a ladder, a body appears in a cupboard and nobody knows what’s going on.

The comedic action takes place in a country house where the occupants are somewhat accident-prone and liable to wind up dead.

“There are plenty of laughs, but I’m hoping the audience will be wondering at the end, which one of them did it,” said director Andrew Watson.

“It’s a good murder-mystery in a happy-go-lucky sort of way.”

Watson recently finished a season of ‘Allo ‘Allo with the Stirling Players and is new to the Garrick.

He previously directed Beyond a Joke in country Victoria, where he stopped off en route to WA more than 20 years ago.
