The collection showcases glass used with other materials to highlight the glass as the hero of the piece.

The Glass Artists of WA are a community of artists who aim to promote their work through collaboration and sharing knowledge with each other in the same space.

Shire President Andrew Waddell said this latest exhibition would be one of the highlights of the 2016 Zig Zag Gallery program.

“Glass is an exquisite medium and I look forward to viewing the inspired range of creations on show by these talented artists,” Cr Waddell said.

The exhibition continues until Sunday August 7.

Widely regarded as the pre-eminent glass artist family in WA, the Gordons have been nominated as living treasures for their artistic contribution.

Kevin Gordon has work in the exhibition at the Zig Zag.

“In the process of my work I look for how nature evolves, for the underlying logic, and formula that create nature’s designs,” he said.

“I use this by breaking down the design to the basic elements or fractals which repeat in a form of mathematics formula which build up to make the whole design.”

To see his work and that of many other glass artists in the State, go to the Zig Zag before August 7.

The Glass+ Exhibition is at the gallery, at 50 Railway Road, Kalamunda.
