Treasurer Alana Winsor said the club would hold a Pink Sports Day event on Sunday at 9am for Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).

Sports groups are urged to host an event to get communities together to support those affected by breast cancer.

The Pink Sports Day falls on the monthly Wooroloo Horse & Pony Club rally at the pony club grounds at Bailup Park Equestrian and Recreation Centre.

“The public are welcome to come along and observe our club members participating in their pony club activities, including show jumping, flat work, horse mastership and mounted games,” Ms Winsor said.

“We will be selling sausage sizzles and pink baked goods via our canteen, the proceeds of which will be donated directly into our BCNA donation tins, the three of which will be on site on the day.”

She said the event was a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness about breast cancer and help raise funds.

“The majority of our parent and child members are women and girls and we were all more than happy to support this great cause as we all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer,” she said.

“In fact, one of our Wooroloo Horse and Pony Club life members has been fighting breast cancer for many years and another of our longtime club supporters has also been recently diagnosed.

“With breast cancer being the most common cancer affecting women, and for the 48 families that are affected by a breast cancer diagnosis every day, Wooroloo Horse & Pony Club will be proud to ‘Pink Up’ and raise as much money as we can.”
