THE SWAN Valley will receive $2 million worth of funding to improve tourism under a re-elected Liberal Government after an announcement by Premier Colin Barnett on Thursday.

Mr Barnett said the funding would support small business operators in wineries, restaurants, produce suppliers and local attractions to help the region reach its full potential.

“The funding will be used over two years for greater marketing to improve interstate and international awareness of the region as a food and wine destination right on Perth’s doorstep,” he said.

“A Liberal Government will also install destination signage and undertake improvements to landscaping in the Valley.”

West Swan MLA Rod Henderson said the funding would help make the Swan Valley more accessible.

“The Swan Valley is full of history and has everything to offer, so it’s fantastic to hear the Liberal Government is prepared to take on this initiative and support businesses in the area,” he said.

“The Swan Valley is a jewel in the crown of Perth and we need to promote that locally and to people overseas.”
