GET outside and get into nature by heading to the free Bickley Camp Community Open Day on April 30.
The Department of Sport and Recreation (DRS) camp is nestled in the Perth Hills in Orange Grove and has been hosting camps for 72 years.
DSR head of camps Tim Swart said families could try their hand at adventure activities like the flying fox, canoeing and orienteering.
“This is a great opportunity to experience the Bickley camp without a formal booking while getting closer to the natural beauty of the surrounds of the Perth hills,” he said.
“The open day is a chance to come and see what a recreation camp looks like but also take part in some of the adventure activities.”
Nature educator and enthusiast Eric McCrum will also be giving talks on local flora and fauna.
Park at Camp Wattle Grove and take the free shuttle, ride your bike or walk the hill to the camp, as there is no parking onsite.
Light food will be available for cash sale but you can also bring along a picnic and enjoy the grounds.
For more information check out Bickley Outdoor Recreation Camp on Facebook.
The open day runs from 10am-3pm and is an alcohol and smoke free event.
