Bickley Hillbillies Men’s Breakfast puts support on the menu

Bronwyn DonovanMidland Kalamunda Reporter

Belmont resident Joe Macri started the event after a friend encouraged him to attend a men’s weekend retreat run by American organisation The Crucible Project at a time when he was struggling and felt alone in his life.

“I wanted to create a more regular, local event, where men felt they could share their stories, where they could show emotions and know they had a community to support them, no matter what their burden was, from not being able to pay a bill to not coping with a divorce,” Mr Macri said.

“I’ve known so many men who had incredible stories to tell and I was tired of waiting until their funeral to hear about them.”
