Charge laid after alleged assault on a Midland postie

POLICE have charged 19-year-old man with aggravated assault causing bodily harm over an incident in which a 71-year-old female postie was allegedly knocked off her motorbike and kicked.

The Midland man will appear in Perth magistrates court on Saturday.

Police earlier released images of a man they wanted to speak to in connection with the case.

That man was able to assist police with their inquiries, but he was not the man charged with the offence.

Senior sergeant Jason Longhorn said the woman was in good spirits after sustaining some bruising.

He said it was remarkable for a woman of her age to be doing the job she was doing and added she had “a lot of resilience”.
