Former Mayor Wainwright was out of the race after failing to be re-elected as a councillor in Swan’s Altone ward in Saturday’s local government election. He had served 12 years on the council.

Cr Lucas, of Altone ward and Swan’s former deputy mayor, has been a member of the council for 25 years and a resident of Beechboro for more than 30 years.

Cr Bailey has been on the council for 12 years and has lived in the newly formed Pearce ward for 20 years.

Recently elected councillors, as well as the new mayor and deputy, were sworn in at the meeting.

Councillors were also appointed to local committees and external boards.

The new council’s first ordinary meeting will be on November 15.
