THE City of Swan recognised its Midland region volunteer groups and their lies with a day out at the circus this month.

Mayor Mick Wainwright thanked them for their contribution to the community over the past year and welcomed them to a performance of Circus Joseph Ashton before a catered lunch.

“It is your efforts and those of the other volunteer-led community groups operating in the City of Swan’s Midland Place that sets us apart as a local government authority that is innovative, inclusive and, most importantly, considerate of the people who are our community,” he said.

“I often hear comments about how different and progressive things are in the City of Swan, and, while it is always nice to receive the praise, I am determined to ensure that people know our achievements are driven by the excellent communication, consultation, co-operation and collaboration that exists between the city, our residents and our local businesses.”

Businesses, including this newspaper, were also recognised for their partnering efforts with the community.

Circus Joseph Ashton is still in the City of Swan, performing in Ellenbrook until June 6.
