BIG Bash cricket returns to Lilac Hill later this month after a thrilling game on Sunday.

The Perth Scorchers lost a Women’s Big Bash League thriller to ladder leader Sydney Thunder.

The Thunder skipped a game clear of their Sydney rivals, the Sixers, at the top of the ladder after their final-ball victory over Perth.

The Scorchers needed three runs off the final delivery and Mathilda Carmichael was run out on her way back for a second run to tie the game. The final score was Thunder 6-145 and the Scorchers 6-144.

The Scorchers, who made last season’s final, avenged the loss on Monday night, defeating the Thunder by eight wickets at the WACA Ground.

Perth is fifth with five wins from eight matches.

They next play at Lilac Hill on January 21, hosting the Hobart Hurricanes.
