A SCHOOL holiday program at Midland PCYC that helps at risk youth has welcomed a donation from The Good Guys in Midland to help fund their Safe Space initiative.

Midland PCYC area manager Jackie Abbott said the donation made school holidays that little bit better.

“Safe Space provides youth with a variety of fun activities, meals and transport in a safe environment where they have access to support, guidance and mentors over the school holidays,” she said.

“We are so grateful to The Good Guys in Midland for this $1`200 donation which will fund food for our program until June 30, 2017.”

Ms Abbott said the Safe Space initiative provided activities for children between the ages of 12 and 18.

“The program is an intervention initiative to provide the youth within Midland and surrounding suburbs with a safe place to gather, interact with each other and participate in team and confidence building activities as well as fun games,” she said.

“It has been provided to ensure the youth through boredom are not tempted to go out and place themselves or others in danger.

“All participants in the program have access to transport to ensure they arrive and get back home safely each night and they are also provided with a meal and drinks.”

The Good Guys Midland store executive manager David Germinario said his team were proud to support Midland PCYC.

“We like to do anything we can to help kids in our community and hope this makes their school holidays that little bit better,” he says.

The Safe Space Program is funded with a $25,000 WA Police Community Crime Prevention Grant.
