Forrestfield man (20) after alleged attempted burglary in Helena Valley

POLICE have charged a Forrestfield man (20) following an alleged attempted burglary and pursuit in Helena Valley.

Sergeant Andrew Maher said officers were called to a Riverdale Road address about 10pm on June 15 where someone was attempting to break into a house.

“On arrival, police observed a silver Volvo sedan, which was a stolen vehicle, leave the address,” he said.

“The Volvo was stolen from Kenwick during the morning (on June 15).

“Police attempted to stop the vehicle, utilising emergency lights and siren. It will be alleged the vehicle failed to stop and evaded police.

“The vehicle travelled on Helena Valley Road. Soon after, police deployed a stinger which successfully deflated the tyres.

“The vehicle lost control and crashed into a fence on Helena Valley Road near Scott Street.”

Police charged the driver with stealing a motor vehicle, reckless driving to escape pursuit by police, having no authority to drive, unlawful damage and cannabis possession.
