Guildford siege: man charged with going armed to cause terror

A 20-year-old man has been charged with going armed to cause terror after an alleged siege in Guildford last night.

About 11pm on Sunday , Midland police attended a home in James Street to speak with a male occupant.

The man allegedly became aggressive and threatened officers with a knife before locking himself inside the home.

The Tactical Response Group (TRG) was called, and a trained negotiator tried to talk to the man.

He refused to negotiate, but surrendered when TRG officers entered the home.

No one was injured in the incident.

The man has also been charged with threats to injure, obstructing police and disorderly behaviour.

He will front Midland Magistrates Court today.
