On Saturday, April 2, just before the date of her final year school ball, 17-year-old Siobhain will sacrifice her long brown hair to raise money for cancer patients to help fund research, specialist staff, equipment, other services and capital projects.

She chose the hospital because she said it had helped her family so much when they needed support.

Her cousin died of a heart-related disease just before his second birthday.

“Our family are so thankful for all the doctors and nurses at PMH who tried their hardest to help Marshall,” she said.

“Without them we wouldn’t have had as much time with him as we did. He’ll never be forgotten.”

Siobhain said her brother Andrew, also received great support from the staff and specialists at Princess Margaret Hospital in 2013-2014.

“He was in and out of PMH for over 18 months and not once did they give up on ensuring he would get better.”

Siobhain’s hair will come off at the Pig and Whistle tavern at noon on April 2.

There will be raffles, music, a face painter, a sausage sizzle and of course, Stitches the Bear for the kids on the day.

She said she hoped to be an early childhood teacher and was willing to sacrifice a lot to help young children who should always be put first.

Every dollar makes a difference, so anyone who would like to support Siobhain’s head shave for Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation can make a donation at her fundraising page https://give.everydayhero.com/au/shaving-my-head-for-the-children-of-pmh
