Hazelmere cafe owner’s green bean plan

Laura PondMidland Kalamunda Reporter

As part of Plastic Free July, Bolt Coffee owner Steve Lomax encouraged customers to bring in a reusable cup and when they bought coffee they would receive a coffee bean to place in a jar.

Every bean now represents a tree Mr Lomax will buy from Men of the Trees on their behalf and plant on August 6 with help from the Lower Helena Association and Transition Town Guildford.

“I’m not really a ‘greenie’ but it seems pretty obvious to me that we need more trees because they’re the things that are keeping us going,” he said.

“More trees are being cut down.”
