MUSICAL genius David Helfgott will perform at Gooseberry Hill Primary School before he travels to Vienna as part of a world tour.
The Melbourne-born concert pianist, whose life inspired the Academy award-winning film Shine, has toured more than 35 countries to world acclaim.
He will perform at the school on Thursday, March 9 as part of the lead-up to the school’s orchestra and choir Sydney music tour in July.
Helfgott studied at the Royal College of Music in London with virtuoso Cyril Smith, who described the pianist as his most brilliant student in 25 years of teaching and likened him to Horowitz, both technically and temperamentally.
The performance is open to the community and the school’s senior orchestra will perform at the event, from 10am to 11.30am, with Helfgott hitting the keys at 10.30am for 30 minutes.
Tickets at $8 for an adult and $4 for a child are available through the school office.
