A MULTI-storey commercial-residential building has been proposed for the heart |of Guildford⿿s heritage precinct.

The four-level development application at 110 Stirling Terrace includes commercial tenancies and a car park at ground level and apartments in the top three levels.

The land, neighbouring the historic Padbury Stores, is zoned general commercial and the additional use for residential purposes is discretionary.

The height of the building is only 12m, which is equal to the height of the surrounding historic buildings.

Developer Tim Willing said he had been consulting with the local community about the project since December last year.

“We’ve looked at what is in Guildford and what is beautiful about some of those period buildings, and then created something that interprets it for now,” Mr Willing said.

“We didn’t want a building that tried to compete so we |really made sure that masonry elements were exactly the same height and no higher.”

A Department of Planning Development Assessment Panel will have the final say on the decision, but the City of Swan will provide a recommendation to the panel, taking into consideration submissions from the public.

The closing date for submission is June 30.
