Hospital on track

Health Minister Dr Kim Hames celebrated with the project team for a first birthday morning tea.

The five-storey clinical block structure, which includes the emergency department, theatres, critical care unit and mental health unit, is now complete.

The ward block is also taking shape and includes the public hospital reception and private hospital.

St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals chief executive Ian Anderson said while there was much to see on the Clayton Street site, what was not so obvious was the hard work taking place behind the scenes, in conjunction with WA Health.

‘This includes planning for all aspects of the new and expanded public health services that will be free to public patients, as well as the increased choice that will be available through our private hospital services,’ he said.

Brookfield Multiplex’s regional managing director Chris Palandri said the site’s workforce had jumped to nearly 200 and was due to peak at 350 by the end of the year.

He said the coming months would see the completion of the hospitals’ structure.
