Acting Sergeant Laura Oliver said the offender was described as a dark-skinned man with a solid build, riding a light-coloured bike.

The 73-year-old victim, who asked not to be identified, lives locally.

The woman said she was placing her shopping into the boot of her car when the man approached her, pulled her bag from her right shoulder and ran off.

She fell to the ground between two parked cars and suffered bruising to her right arm and wrist.

Her car was parked opposite the Coffee Club in the underground car park next to Great Eastern Highway.

The woman told the Reporter she now feels scared to leave her house and has had double-bolts and extra locks installed since the attack.

She wanted to speak out to warn others about her ordeal.

‘I am on the road to recovery now, but it really shook me up,’ she said.

‘It is not something you expect to happen when you go out to do the shopping,’ she said.

Anyone with information about the incident should call 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
