PERTH’S biggest and best drug, smoke and alcohol free all-ages festival will return to Midland in February.
Fresh from its nomination as WA Live Music Event of the Year at the National Live Music Awards, HyperFest will take over Midland Oval on Saturday 18 February 2017 with a massive line up of the country’s best artists and a huge silent disco.
Swan Mayor Mick Wainwright said the Hyper Team, a huge team of volunteers that co-ordinate the festival, was on the lookout for local artists to join 2017’s headlining acts.
“Submissions for bands and artists are now open and this year they can be made through HyperFest’s brand new website,” he said.
“More than 150 local bands and 40 DJs applied to secure a spot on the 2016 HyperFest line-up and we expect those numbers to increase next year.”
Cr Wainwright said the team was also calling for submissions from hosts, photographers, stallholders, food vendors and new volunteers.
“The Hyper Team of volunteers, under the direction of City staff, should be applauded for the great job they do in bringing this event together each and every year,” he said.
Following on from 2016’s impressive bill which included Northlane, Ball Park Music, DZ Deathrays, E^ST, Trophy Eyes and Luca Brasi paired with local heroes like The Love Junkies, The Brow, Marksman Lloyd and Pat Chow, the first part of the festival’s line up will be dropped in early November.
Midland/Guildford Ward councillor Mark Elliott said the festival gave local bands and artists an opportunity to shine.
“The level of talent in the region is really exciting and I am really looking forward to seeing it showcased at HyperFest in 2017,” he said.
City of Swan’s HyperFest, presented by Drug Aware, is an all-ages (12+) drug, smoke and alcohol free event that would is sponsored by Drug Aware, Healthway and Midland Gate Shopping Centre.
