THE annual Shire of Kalamunda youth music program In the Mix is shaping up to be a big hit, with talented local musicians getting ready to perform in the finale concert at the Corymbia Festival next month.
Kalamunda Music Academy programs director Daryl Eagle said In The Mix provided up-and-coming singers, DJs, musicians and producers a platform to fine-tune their skills through a series of music workshops.
“In The Mix is a fantastic opportunity for young musicians in our community to hone their skills with other like-minded young people,” he said.
“Music uniquely allows people from all cultures and background to connect and have a conversation without saying a single word.”
Four workshops will be held over February and March to teach participants technical and performance skills and give them the opportunity to collaborate with other young artists.
Mr Eagle said In The Mix would culminate with the community concert at the Corymbia Festival on Saturday, March 11.
“This will give these young stars the opportunity to showcase their talent and five lucky participants will also be awarded a Kalamunda Music Academy scholarship, enabling the performers to continue their musical development after the program has concluded,” he said.
