Kalamunda: free men’s health seminar from Hollywood Private Hospitals

HOLLYWOOD Private Hospital is hosting a free seminar on men’s health at the Kalamunda Hotel, Saturday, June 17 from 2pm to 3pm.

The ‘Keep it Up’ seminar will be delivered by Hollywood urological surgeon, Tom Shannon, to educate men and the women in their lives about the importance of good health and its impact on men’s physical, sexual, psychological and social wellbeing.

Dr Shannon said males were programmed to fix problems and to wait until something goes wrong to address it.

“This is a challenge for disease prevention that leads to delays in diagnosis and treatment,” he said.

“Most problems are easy to treat if dealt with early and chronic illness can be avoided altogether with small changes to lifestyle.”

“I want to help men to take control of their own health, reducing their risk of cancer as well as diabetes, and heart and vascular disease.”

Dr Shannon is a urologist with more than 15 years’ experience treating prostate cancer and is a passionate advocate of men’s health.

He is a founding board member of the Prostate Cancer Foundation WA and the West Australian Urological Research Organisation.
