Kalamunda History Village reopens after asbestos removal

KALAMUNDA History Village has reopened its doors after a small closure for asbestos removal.

The Village re-opened at the weekend after maintenance workers cleaned and painted the iconic old train on the premises.

Shire chief executive Rhonda Hardy said she was pleased to reopen the Village after the site was deemed fit for re-occupation.

“Site investigation tests including air monitoring, soil samples and testing of debris have returned results showing very low detection levels for asbestos,” she said.

Mrs Hardy said while the locomotive was made safe it should be avoided.
