Kalamunda says ‘it’s show time!’

Sally McGlewMidland Kalamunda Reporter

KALAMUNDA’s Annual Show is again upon the community.

This year will be the 118th running of the show and each year it offers a number of free attractions and displays.

Many community groups and individuals volunteer their time in assisting the Show committee in the setting up and running of the event; Kalamunda District Scout Movement provides a large proportion of the volunteers.

Entry fees are modest and those on the committee try to encourage families and children to attend.

The Show is on Friday evening, Saturday and into Saturday night.

Located at the Agricultural Hall and on Kostera Oval, the show fills the space easily with growing numbers of displays each year.

The annual log chop competition, animal nursery, alpaca display, sheep trialling, goat show, poultry show and traditional competition in flora, cooking and preserves and needlework and art and photography are also on display.

The grounds also feature a variety of stalls, competitions, rides, displays, sideshows, kids’ activity corner and many other free activities.

There is an entertainment stage that features local artists and speciality acts, including top class bands and entertainers.

An excellent fireworks display on both Friday and Saturday evenings is also a popular attraction.

Kalamunda Show runs Friday April 29, 5-10pm and Saturday April 30, 10am-10pm.
