SOME of Perth’s finest performers will return to Kalamunda for Opera at Twilight in Stirk Park after last year’s sold-out charity concert.

The 2016 event raised $15,000 for Interplast, a Rotary-based program supporting medical teams who volunteer to operate on children’s facial deformities in poor Australasian countries.

Organisers are hoping for a repeat performance of last year’s success at this year’s ‘make a difference’ event in November.

Operatic arias, duets and trios from well-loved operas and musical gems from West Side Story, Phantom, Kismet and other shows will be performed as the sun sets behind the park.

The Rotary Club of Kalamunda will bring to the stage soprano Ileana Otto-Johansen and baritone Kristin Bowtell, along with Jeremy Ryan, Stephanie Parr and John Milton, accompanied by Dolce Ensembles, Bernie Barz on flute and Lea Hayward on piano.

Young Gooseberry Hill Rotarian Dan Pearce will be the MC to guide the audience through what promises to be another special evening with accomplished performers from Kalamunda, Bassendean, Bayswater and Woodlands.

Kalamunda Rotary president Martin Farr said the event was Kalamunda’s only classical outdoor concert.

“After last year’s magical experience with over 700 people in attendance, we are sure this year’s concert-goers will be charmed and thrilled with the cast of talented performers,” he said.

Event goers aged 14-plus are encouraged to bring a picnic, a blanket or chair and opera glasses.

Proceeds of the concert will support Ur Strong bullying workshops at Gooseberry Hill Primary School, the Foothills Information and Referred Service for parenting support in Kalamunda and crisis accommodation service Croft Inc.

Tickets at $35 are available at www.trybooking.com/MYCW and local newsagents.
