Katelyn Murphy exhibits pieces for DADAA exhibition

Laura PondMidland Kalamunda Reporter

The 24-year-old has been working on pieces for the My Twin Monkey exhibition for more than two years, honing her skills through workshops run by Disability in the Arts, Disadvantage in the Arts (DADAA) and Guildford Village Potters.

Murphy’s artwork has featured in two of DADAA’s recent exhibitions but she was excited for her first solo show.

“It makes me feel very good and happy,” she said.

“I think my artwork has an earthy feel to it, and inspired by animals, flowers and colour.”

As well as making her own art, Murphy said she liked seeing what other artists created.

“I enjoy seeing other people’s art and I like to see other people enjoying doing their artwork,” she said.

My Twin Monkey will run until May 23 at Guildford Village Potters’ Gallery, 22 Meadow Street.
