Perth mum’s shock after finding fingernail in Krispy Kreme

KRISPY Kreme is investigating claims a Perth customer found a fingernail in one of their products.

Sharmi La posted on Facebook that she purchased the tainted hot cross bun doughnut from the 7-Eleven on Hale Road in Wattle Grove.

“I found there was a piece of nail inside the chocolate cream in the doughnut,” she wrote.

“How did this cut nail piece come inside the doughnut???

“(What) if it was eaten by a child and swallowed it by mistake?

“Very poor care taken while manufacturing.”

Krispy Kreme spokeswoman Nicola Steele said the company had been in touch with the customer.

“We have never had a complaint like this before,” she said.

“But whenever we hear anything like this we take it very seriously whether it is true or not.

“We have already started an investigation and examined CCTV footage at our manufacturing plant which has confirmed everyone was wearing gloves.

“We have also spoken to the attendant at the 7-Eleven.”

7-Eleven has been contacted for comment.
