Large solar farm proposed for Perth’s east

A PROPOSAL to build a 32,000 panel solar farm in Gidgegannup is currently out for public comment.

The 9.9 megawatt Teewana Solar Farm is predicted to inject $8.5 million into the economy over two years and create 75 jobs during the construction phase.

The City of Swan has received an application for the 27.4 hectare solar farm at 284 Burgess Road, Gidgegannup.

The property is zoned rural under the Metropolitan Region Scheme and general rural zone under the City’s Local Planning Scheme No.17. The proposed land use is considered a use not listed.

The solar farm will be 31,270 photovoltaic panels with four inverters. The panels can track from 52 degrees east in the morning and 52 degrees west in the evening. Each panel is 1m x 2m.

The closing date for submissions on the solar farm at 284 Burgess Road is April 22, 2019.
