Ellenbrook man charged over death of seven-month-old girl

A SEVEN-month-old baby passed away in hospital today from injuries police allege she sustained at the hands of a relative.

Paul James Cosgrove (23) from Ellenbrook appeared in court briefly on the same day before the young girl died.

Police initially charged him with aggravated grievous bodily harm.

They are expected to review the charges pending the results of a post-mortem examination of the baby.

Police were initially called to Princess Margaret Hospital to investigate the child’s injuries.

She was admitted to the hospital on September 14, after being transferred from the Swan Districts Hospital.

Mr Cosgrove will be remanded in custody until September 30.
