Midland bank staff set off duress alarm

Staff at a bank in Midland were forced to use a duress alarm this afternoon.

They activated the alarm about 12.30pm at the building near Midland Gate Shopping Centre in The Crescent following a large verbal altercation out the front of the bank.

Police and security attended and the road was closed between Cale and Sayer streets.

Police said they established there was no threat to bank staff and arrested a person on an unrelated matter.
