The Vet said he can’t travel at the moment but will make a full recovery. Chile will aim to make the markets in January to catch up with everybody.

“But if you’re taking some time off work over the holidays, it’s important to realise that owning an animal is a long-term commitment, so new pet owners really need to think about whether they can care for that animal into the New Year when life goes back to normal,” she said.

“We have a strict policy at RSPCA that we don’t allow people to adopt animals as gifts, yet we do have animals that come into our care after Christmas that were intended as gifts.”
