FIREFIGHTERS were battling a large structure fire in Midland this afternoon.

The fire was reported near Spring Park Road at 3.40pm by a triple zero caller.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said a single-storey structure, which was vacant property, was ablaze.

The spokesperson said there were four small fires in the roof.

“The fire is contained and under control at 4.32pm,” she said.

Nine fire appliances were on the scene, including from Kiara, Midland, Ellenbrook, Belmont and Osborne Park fire services.

Police were at the scene investigating whether people were living at the vacant property.
